What is confirmed
- Zear Labs LLC is responsible for Zear Scribe.
- The app transcribes audio and video and identifies distinct speakers.
- Transcription and speaker separation run on-device.
- Local source files are accessed with user-selected file permission. Completed transcript projects remain on the Mac.
- A user-initiated URL import contacts the supplied website and its media delivery endpoints. URL compatibility is best effort.
- The current v1 build has no account, cloud processing, telemetry, analytics, microphone recording, or subscription code.
- The product has not yet reached public release.

Disclosures still to be finalized
The final policy will state, in concrete terms:
- The complete list of bundled models, helper tools, and their licenses.
- How long URL-imported source media and temporary processing files are retained.
- How users export or permanently delete source media and transcript projects.
- Every final crash-reporting or diagnostic feature, if any ships at launch.
- How recording consent responsibilities are communicated inside the app.
Recording responsibility
Laws governing recording and transcription vary. The final product experience and policy must tell users to obtain any consent required before processing a conversation or sharing its transcript.
